Strong governance is the backbone of every successful organization. This interactive course helps board members and senior staff build governance skills, strengthen accountability, and become more effective and results-driven. Topics include:

  • What you need to know about your Constitution, bylaws, and membership
  • The legal and fiduciary duties of a Board and its Directors
  • The roles and responsibilities of the Board vs Management and how they work together
  • Essential board policies
  • Building effective Committees 
  • Priority results agendas, minutes, and tools for efficient meetings


Facilitator

Wendy Keats

Wendy Keats is an organizational development consultant with nearly 40 years of experience supporting non-profits, businesses, co-ops, and governments. She specializes in governance, facilitation, strategic planning, and evaluation. A certified mediator, Wendy taught conflict resolution and leadership skills at UPEI’s Centre for Conflict Studies for 10 years. She has led hundreds of interest-based sessions and is also an approved evaluator for federal community programs.
